The Flight Training Device

Roger Aviation took delivery of the first Frasca 242 Baron class Level 3 Flight Training Device to be qualified by the FAA in May, 1996. The full-sized, dual visual, airline class simulator is one of the country's most sophisticated Flight Training Devices. It includes a custom designed audio/video recording system that offers debriefing capabilities previously found only at airline training centers. The simulator is well equipped with the latest avionics, including:
  • KLN90B Approach Certified GPS
  • Dual Needle RMI
  • Radar Altimeter
  • Pressurization
  • KFC150 Autopilot
  • Flight Director
  • HSI

The simulator is designed as a Beechcraft Baron 58P, but it can be configured to the performance figures of most piston twin and high performance single engine aircraft, based on actual flight test data. These include:

  • Beech Duke, Baron, Bonanza
  • Cessna 300/400 Series
  • Piper Navajo, Aztec, Seneca
  • Piper Malibu/Mirage
The Frasca 242 is controlled by the instructor or operator from the Graphical Instructor Station (GISt). The instructor is able to input changes in weather conditions, aircraft loading and systems failures without interrupting the flight. In addition, the GISt allows the aircraft to be relocated to virtually any airport in the United States for maximum training efficiency and realism.
